Hi all.
I was not sure if I should up some old timing chain thread or start a new one.
I developed this metallic rattle noise and it is scary.
I opened the top timing chain cover and found that the protrusion of the tensioner is minimal, which would suggest the chain is not stretched, but the 'returning' part of the chain looks to me very loose. (Plastic timing guides that I could easily remove show no wear or damage)
Do you think what I hear is the stretched timing chain or would I need to look further? Would connecting rod bearing failing sound similar? It is very metalic and does not sound combustion related to me.
Thank you!
