Unfortunate intake placement - you'd have thought Nissan had changed that by now.
The car needs to be looked at by a mechanic. The intercooler could be full of water, there could be injector damage, turbocharger damage - there might only be the water, it could require a rebuild, but until it's checked you won't know.
It's because the air intake sits too close to the left inner guard and large splashes can be directed into the intake. Snorkels prevent it from happening but I do think Nissan could have thought about it a lot better.
