Visited the local dealer on the way home tonight, will look at placing an order in the next week or 2. They have announced changes already for the 550. Now have a set of options that include the sat nav, Bose sound system, camera etc from the Ti 550 along with a few other extras for an extra $4000. Will definately be going for that. Best of all they no longer include the roof racks:big_smile:

I was in our local arb this week and they told me that they don't have one out yet for the 550 because of the intercooler

Was told that the Nissan steel bar from from the 140Kw ST-X (which is made by ARB) will fit the 550 after some mods to the mounting brackets. Anyone else heard this?

Looking forward to seeing some pics and what system you use Hunter. Mine is due to arrive next week and sat nav/reverse camera is one of the priorities.

Dont know who you spoke with at ECB but mine was powdercoated by them. Had the option of all 3 colours or the polished. Glad I went for the black ripple. It looks awesome. I have a HID upgrade kit from Predator for headlights. The HID are great but in hindsight I would have stuck with the Halogens as these are more suitable and give a better spread.
Call Dave at Coastal 4x4 for the bar. He was great help

Hey there Bosshog. Yes I have heard this and have heard that what some of the dealer are doing it not legal. The mods they are doing is to the conseteena connection that assists the airbag ball. This mod is not ADR approved and will void any insurance claim, so be careful. Check out the ECB bar on mine. I love the ARB bar but seeing this one on the 550, I have changed my mind. It looks awesome and I am very, very fastidious

It is more than just the stereo for the extra money, it appears that it also gets most of the features from the Pathfinder Ti 550 including electric leather seats with memory. He showed me the memo but wouldn't give me a copy as it hasn't been announced yet.

Have already fitted snorkels and long range fuel tanks to the 550's now.
Significant difference in the chassis design for the tanks! Easy enough to work around though.

And as for the snorkel! I hope safari come out with a bolt in kit soon. As much as I love bespoke work its just hard to keep up with the rest of the work load when performing it!

MCC will have a bolt on bar available in the next 2 months that looks almost identical to an ARB bar. The best part is it will come as deluxe or sahara.

And.... You can get either shape in steel, aluminium or plastic! Talk about flexibility!

Hi, to me these things should of already been in them for the price, and especially as the european 550's already had them, but i knew this is what they would do. Maybe i should take my 550 back and see how much i would lose in upgrading it to one with all the mod cons :sarcastic:

Cheers,

Worm.

Interesting as it was a dealer who is only too happy to mod a Nissan steel bar to fit the 550. I hadn't thought about the airbag implications. Yes seen your ECB bar and it looks great. If only I owned a 550

When I got mine it was a demo they had specced up, it had 22inch black alloy wheels which I didn't want, when I asked them for the engineering certificate to say the wheels they just looked blank.
Would be interesting to see what would happen in the case of an insurance claim.
Also has window tint as black as the paint which they told me was the darkest legal tint, my last one got done with darkest legal and was about half as dark this one. Looks good though

There is no ADR regarding bullbars and airbags.
All just a big bunch of hype.

There is recommendations regarding it, but nothing is enforced.

I wonder if the insurance companies feel the same way if it provides them an out for paying a claim.

I have been in the insurance industry for over 20 years and I find it amusing everytime I read comments like this. Despite what people think, insurance companies do not look for reason not to pay claims using technicalities like this, well at least the one I work for doesn't.

We do have policies on what type of bull bar we would fit after an accident and if what you had was not compliant we would probably fit a compliant one up to the value of what you had or give you the cash and let you fit whatever type you wanted. We definately wouldn't and shouldn't refuse a claim unless the mod directly caused the incident in the first place.

As someone who has had connections to one of the biggest insurance companies in Australia for the past 35 years I wouldn't be indicating an insurance company would just write off the claim because something was fitted. As I have said many times before in most cases the mod would have to be a contributing factor for it too be an issue but the fact still remains that it's entirely possible for claims to be wiped if a vehicle is unroadworthy or has unroadworthy parts added too it.

All insurance companies look for reason not to pay, look at those paying out for flood damage and even the Black Saturday bush fires where people are still fighting 2 years after. It's not in any companies best interest to just pay out every claim without fully inspecting it and finding out if there is a way to either not pay or make someone else pay. A good assessor will look at all aspects with what should be an unbiased attitude and report what happened, what caused it and who is at fault and if the unroadowrthy part had any effect they are within their rights to cancel the claim. I wasn't ever indicating they would do it automatically.

I had a ford escort when I was in the UK that had all sorts of homemade bits bolted onto it, smashed it, not a question of if they were on the policy, even got a few hundred for them if I remember right and a payout for injuries even though I was fine and not claiming for them (I guess thats to stop me claiming in the future).
Got paid out, went on holiday to Amsterdam & blew the lot........... literally

2 days to go, hook the van up and off to Darwin, getting 10 000km service done in Darwin, so don't if anyone else is due for a oil change but when I booked it in I was advised to try and source my own oil filter as Darwin didn't have one so I rang my local dealer and they didn't have one either was also told that Nissan wasn't releasing full stock until 30th June, but my dealer tracked one down for me as a few dealer do have some, the best is yet to come I was told that one dealer could not release to another but a customer can purchase it from the dealer that has it and that is what happen to me, Mackay dealer could not release to Rocky dealer so I had to buy from Mackay and have them post to me so I could take to Darwin with me to get my 10 000km "SERVICE" gotta love it ! Moral of the long story is if your due for a service start looking for a oil filter.

Mines not a 550 but my dealer told me he wouldn't supply me with a fuel filter unless I gave him the VIN. 09 D40's use one of three different filters depending on when they were made but despite having the actual part number and it being my money I loose if I stuff up the moron still refused to supply me the part without a VIN. Yet the mate who I buy parts through rings up with exactly the same info orders the parts in my name and there is no questions asked.
