Replacing spark plugs VQ40 petrol

Got my D40 serviced yesterday - 40,000km - at a local mechanic, NOT a dealership. The service schedule called for the spark plugs to be replaced but my mechanic said it didn't need them.

I know plugs these days can last a lot longer, but would the original set of plugs installed by Nissan be that good?

I still have the original plugs in with almost 90k on them and they are as good as the day I bought it. I believe these days they say 100k is the normal life of a plug for our trucks.

Thanks. I come from an era when 50,000km on a set of plugs was almost unheard of - old habits die hard, I guess.

I know exactly what you mean but the new plugs they use now are meant to be good for 100k. Certainly hope so cos it looks like a major job to replace them seeing you have to take off the inlet manifold to get at the drivers side plugs
