oily carpet

Ok so this may sound really strange. But ive noticed everytime i remove my front rubber mats to vacuum my carpet the carpet is really oily and sticky and the under side of my rubber mats is covered in black oily stuff. Only happens in the front passenger and drivers. Nothing in the back. Sounds really odd just wondering if anyone else ever had this?

could be the rubber boot that goes over the gear stick onto the gearbox. lift off the console and have a look. had the same problem, but i could also smell it

It seems to only be where the mat sits. Its almost like the rubber mats make the carpet sweat. But sweat oil lol

I have never had a problem with mine and I'm on my 3rd set of Nissan rubber mats.
Thinking that you might need to give your carpets a degrease.

Bit odd. Could it be the the mats themselves? Rubber partly made from oil. Maybe leave them out for while or try another mat.

Strange... I would suspect the mats/carpet has been cleaned with something in the past that has caused the rubber to start devulcanising. Is the oily stuff on the mat or just the carpet?

Its on the bottom of the mata aswell so you could be right there
