Was informed during the week by a well known nationally recocnized suspension mob that if I lifted my d40 anything more than about an inch I would be causeing undue stress and possible breakage to my lower ball joints when my vehicle articulates. I can't give you an exact height measurement but it was a neglible amount. Upon hearing this I was quickly on the phone to Zordo to ask his opnion. He said he hasn't anything like that and suggested to put it on the forum. So here it is, has anyone else been told this or had this problem?

My guess is (possibly), they might have been making it look like they were helping you with advice, knowing you wanted a 2" lift, and hoping you'd say "ok do the 2" lift and the ball joints as well". Believe it or not, alot of businesses will use such tactics to get extra coin.

I havent had mine articulating etc really as i use mine for camping etc, but i had a lift kit put in, 60mm front and 70mm rear (so that's over two inches front and rear) and no problems at all. Then put 33's on it, still no probs. The wheel alignments kept it all good!

I got 160000ks out of my 06 rx d40 before they needed changing and i ran a 4 inch lift with offset american racing wheels and 33's, the car itself was allways in the bush as it was my farm/ wood truck in the tassie highlands. the only reason it wore out was because the ball joint boot had ripped and water got in' So it may of lasted longer if that didn't happend.

sounds like there pulling your chain.... have hammerd mine and all good with 2" lift.... Name and shame I say.......

I have never heard that load of BS before, as 4 naving says NAME AND SHAME the clowns.
Ring around to other 4x4 suspension specialists and see what they say, Try ringing Brendan at Ultimate Suspension and see what he says and i bet he tells you that its not as common as you have been told.
I have now owned two D40 the last one is still in the family and now has over 100'000km on the clock and no issues at all and it has a 2" lift and has done allot of off road work from events like "son of trials" to trials like "Monkey Gum" near Nowra NSW.
The current one has 20'000km on it and no probs and has had the lift since day one.
