My engine has a small amount of blow by happening. It only happens on take off/coming off idle. Should I be fairly concerned about this or should I change to a thicker oil, if so then what?

what engine?
blowby is typically at its worse at idle.
zd30 tends to look worse than it is due to the way the timing cover is.

Yeah zd30 I meant it's burning oil cos it's leaving clouds of smoke when I take off
Am I right in assuming that it would be blow by?

fairly rare the smoke if due to blowby.
firstly what color smoke and if possible what does it smell like?

Oh really
It's grey, slightly whitish
I'm just presuming it's not the turbo oil seal because the turbo was rebuilt and recored less than 5000 kms ago
Should I be looking at injectors?

white is typically turbo. possible they didn't seat the rear seal correctly.
also check the breather line is not partly blocked, especially if you have a catch can fitted.

if its blowing white when cold then check glows are working.
otherwise white smoke tends to be injection timing problem, usually loose a bit of power at the same time due to the timing being so poor. but they normally throw an error code if its to far out.
