I reckon it's the retune coming off after 1000ks so the lead foot works better and it drinks fuel harder.
I'd look at your own boot a bit more before blaming Nissan, problem is it is too easy to make it perform without feeling like you are giving it a bootfull.
I reset the fuel usage thing on the freeway and it sat at 5.5 for a while, till I did some overtaking etc.
I'm rarely last away from the lights, so that is enough to tell me that my high performance engine is drinking the fuel to give me the effortless power I paid for.
