Rock Hard Brake Pedel!!!

Has any one experienced a constant rock hard brake pedal. With or without engine running. Only about an inch movement when stomping on pedal with excessive force. Will activate brakes but very weak. Nothing is stuck on either (front calipers or rear drums)...cheers for any advice.

Yes, had this on our fire vehicle, which made it very hard to drive under lights and sirens. Proportioner at back was bent. The thing bolted at the diff, got a spring on it and two cables, one to each side. Also needs adjusting to work properly.

Brake booster? Loss of vacum on one side of the diaphram-perhaps. Good place to start looking anyway.

Sounds like problem with brake booster.
Start engine ,disconnect hose from booster and check vacum. If you feel nothing at the hose check the hose running to the back of alternator for any leaks. If still no good problem must be in the pump mounted to back of alternator .
