Unfortunatly no pics, but it's not a hard stretch on the imagination.

I saw a hilux (keep reading) and the back of the alloy tray looked strange.

This guy had hooked up a 4 burner bbq that slid out from under the tray. If I had an alloy tray, I know what my next mod would be!

I was in Campbellfield, this looked like a Lux from the early 00's
 
I made a clamp under the trundle tray on my king cab for my 2 burner camp stove thing, was going to put it on runners but thought the back of the car would get covered in cooking juices an that.
Just ended up being a holder for it
 
I guess it depends on your style of tripping. Seems a logical thing to do if you live out of your vehicle. OTOH, we drag a camper trailer and one side is the kitchen where we place the camp stove. It just gets dragged out and cantilevered when we pull up on the side of the road.

If you could afford some of the very long slides(900mm+) and position the stove on the end, then it would be a good idea.

Naturally, one would make sure that the LPG bottle is turned off firmly between uses and hoses emptied.
