Intercooler upgrade - is it worth it?

Hi all,

Thinking the other day while driving through the bush and looking at my gauges with the inlet temp. Just wondering about upgrading the intercooler. For those who has done the upgrade, is it worth it?

I'm not looking for anything super special in performance etc but maybe just helping the engine with cooler air I guess. I have thermo fans on the intercooler via a switch I manually turn on.

In summer in WA, it does get rather hot. I normal drive at around 100 instead of 110 if it's really hot.

When it comes to a diesel and intercoolers, yes. Upgrades to a bigger cooler to provide cooler intake temps make Diesels a happy Camper.

Remember, petrol engines have the fuel itself to help cool the cylinders, diesel doesn't help at all.

Additionally, the cooler the air the denser it is (more oxygen to burn fuel in).

I would be getting a temp gauge sensing air temp as it goes into inlet manifold before going thru the trouble of replacing intercoolers.
