Fitting heated mirrors?

Has anybody tried fitting heated mirrors to their nav's? Do they just plug straight in or is the wiring not there from factory?

As far as I was aware there's no power flowing into the mirrors except:

1) Your indicators are on (indicating turn, locking/unlocking with remote, hazards)
2) The puddle lights are on (BCM controls this based on door lock & open state)
3) The mirror adjustment controls are being used

At any other time the wiring should be dormant. It's very thin wiring too - it wouldn't hold a lot of current. My guess is that (there's room for it) they'll get you to run additional wiring into the door to cope.

Ah, that's a bit of a bugger then. Guess I'll just have go deal with them being fogged up in the mornings.

If you're handy with auto electrics, there's no reason you couldn't run the required wiring, fuse, relay and switch for them. The elements themselves shouldn't draw much power, you only have to look at the size of the wiring for the rear window demister...
