egr valve check ,

hey team ,i recently took the egr off my 2.5turbo an cleaned it , the truck runs better an the engine check light has gone ,buts the egr clicks like crazy when i shut the engine down , when i cleaned the egr i was unsure about checking the butterfly in the egr should it move freely ? it moved but not freely an i was unsure about forcing the issue due to the solinoid an was worried about damaging that bit ,? any advice cheers

I haven't played with my EGR valve beyond adding a small plate near the valve itself. There's a small possibility that I forgot the large hole in the middle, too, but since my car is performing better I've left it alone.

I would imagine that the butterfly would be connected to a mechanism to control it, so it might not have completely free movement unless you removed the control mechanism.
