air con screetch

Hey all,
Just a quick question. When I turn my a/c on (sometimes) the belt makes a loud screetching type noise? Any ideas on why and how to fix? I only have just under 10000 kms on it so belt cant be buggered right??

Could have some foreign substance on the belt. Grab some Dri-Lube (most car part places except the fairy dust suppliers) and rub it on the belt and the pulley surface that you can get to.

Re tension it, it would have stretched by now from when new, check it on the longest open run pulley to pulley, get the belt in the middle and try to twist it, you should not be able to get it past 90 deg but still should be able to twist it a little, if it's not like that add tension until it is.
Nissan will have some kind of deflection torque spec but most people don't have to gear to deal with it the way they will specify.
