I have a D40 2.5d auto with 308k on it. It had a burst hot pipe which led to the DPF needing to be replaced. That done it runs fine. However instead of getting 550ks to a tank round town i now getting 350k. It smells like its overfuelling to me and i getting smell inside car. The exhaust has been checked and no leaks.
I have cleaned the MAF and MAP sendors. The MAF had oily residue on it.
It has been on a dyno and no codes. It did have a perished MAP pipe which was causing overboost and that was replaced.

My questions are:

Could it be the O2 sensors on the DPF?

Could it be the engine coolant sensor telling the computer engine is cold all the time?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It absolutely could be the sensors on the DPF. You should visit this thread and talk to auggie about the sensors. The replacements are a lot cheaper than a DPF and they fix the problem permanently. Mine were replaced with auggie's several years ago and it's still running like a train.
