    D40 engine dead

Well it was bound to happen. Driving on freeway at 110, dropped timing chain, engine destroyed. A d40 with 250000 km's on the clock it was bound to drop it's guts eventually. Choice was sell to wreckers for a maximum offered of $900 or put in a new heart. New engine with dual timing chain kit...

Tyres and rim change for fuel economy

Hi all, First of all I have to say 95 % of my driving is on the black top. Just got rid of my steel rims fitted with 265 MT tyres and fitted a set of CSA alloys with 255 HT tyres, what a remarkable difference. Road noise down to damn near zero and after a couple of 600 km round trips, the fuel...

Dual Battery / Canopy / Tub liner mods advice please

dual battery set up Hi Scott, just thought I'd throw in two cents worth. I put a second battery in the tub with a battery isolator under the bonnet. To save any hassles with voltage drop and future installs I ran 8mm cable pos and neg from the battery under the bonnet to the second battery in...

Tray & Alloy Canopy - Vs - Tub & Fibreglass Canopy

canopy or not I have a tub back and glass canopy which looks the best ,,,,,, but, alloy tray and alloy canopy is a more practical option, more room and about 100 kg lighter. Go the alloy. If you decide on a tub and fibreglass canopy you can buy mine ha ha

    clutch pulley replacement

overrun pully replace Sorry mate I misread your post. I did search for a different sort and couldn't find one, went for genuine from the wreckers in the end. The overrun pully is easily removed with a special tool. Most auto sparkies have one. The tool slots into an allen key hole in the centre...

D40 bullbar & and the Gibb river road

Alloy bullbars are a nice decoration, just the fact that you spotties pulled through the alloy might tell you something. No offence mate but if your serious about some outback travel get a steel one. The comment about the roo is valid, substitute sheep, emu same effect. I think Nissan quite...

    Camping heating

gas heater you cant beat one of those companion gas heaters, cheap as chips from BCF. Just be careful in a tent, never leave it unattended. Added bonus is that the missus wont wear as many protective layers, then you can turn the heater off as suggested above. :makeout:

    D40 strange issue

not sure if the drum brake set up are the same but had this issue with mt camper trailer after brake work and adjustment. Turns out that one brake shoe just trails and if springs / spacers etc are disturbed the trailing shoe locks on, reversing resets it. Take the wheel and brake drum off and...

What is this and where do I get a new one?

wtf Not sure if this is correct, but the strip running down the roof is removed or loosened when a windscreen is replaced. When removed by a butcher who doesn't know what he's doing, they sometimes don't fit back in properly, and tend to pop out again. I lost mine in a car wash after windscreen...

    Anderson Plugs

what the others said, always to battery,,, unless, if you are running multiple two or three connections in the tray or canopy of your rig then run one 8mm earth from your battery to the rear an then connect to this one. saves you running too many earths to the front. It's a good idea if you have...
