Hey guys,

Has anyone gone from a hilux to a D22 and regretted it?

I’ve got a n60 hilux at the moment that’s getting on a bit and have the option of purchasing a d22 that’s newer and less km’s. I’ll also probably end up with a bit of extra cash in pocket once I sell the hilux. So it makes sense, just curious to see if anyone’s done similar and wish they hadn’t.

Cheers

depends. D22's have been around a long time and depends on exactly what your hilux is.

Your Hilux is a known quantity & if it is in good order, I'm not sure you'd be gaining anything.

If the D22 is an unknown quantity, you could be loosing a lot.

I'm on a D22 FB page & a LOT of young blokes who flog the daylights out of cars own them (D22's are cheap). They break stuff regularly that I didn't think that you could break.

FWIW it seems that poorly maintained/hard driven ZD30's have head gasket issues & similar YD25's supposedly have timing chain issues.

I've owned 2 of them from new & still own one of them. They've been brilliant for what I do (outback touring)

Would I buy a used one? No!
