Exploding airbags now stuck in 4x4

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong area.... I'm hoping somebody here can help me, I was driving up an easy 4x4 dirt hill today and hit a bit of a rut then "BANG" the passenger side curtain airbags exploded out of the roof and the side of passenger seat but now for some reason the car is stuck in 4x4 the little car symbol with front and back wheels isn't showing on the dash just the amber 4X4 symbol anyone had this happen and know how to get it out of 4x4 or WHY TF the air bags went off as it's got me fucked as to why airbags in a 4x4 would go off doing an activity the car was designed to d...
