I have cross threaded my front diff filler plug. I have a d22 Nissan navara twin cab 2014 turbo diesel. I cannot find the thread size so I can re-thread it. I need to buy the tap which I see is going to cost a bit do I need the right size so I only have to buy it once

I have heard they can be used. Not sure how they work or what size the helicoil would be.

should be able to take the plug into any competent engineering firm and they'll tell you, or use a thread gauge on the female side. I've also seen thread chasers that will adapt to a range of diameters. I'll post the name if i remember. Anyways lots of options.
Actually better yet call 'Cross Tools Co' in Australia, they specialize in this stuff - Home and Indexes to All Products - Cross Tools Co

Genuine Nissan Diff Drain Plug.

Stripped your drain plug getting it out? Then you will need a new one.

Has a magnet to catch metal fragments.
