Hey Guys,

Before anyone asks, I have also pm'd Zordo, just wanted to hear other peoples experiences as I know a lot of you order from the US as their prices are almost half what Australian ones are even with shipping (wtf).

I am just trying to work out which Bilstein shocks I actually need for my 2004 D22 4WD (ZD30) to be lifted 2 inches. Most places here in Aus sell the B6 Offroad, is this the shock I actually need? I am looking at 2 inches of lift and I have read websites which suggest the 5100 series bilstein is best for lifted trucks. I have also seen B8 offroad shocks which seem to be only area specific (found some on the netherlands bilstein website). Also the B6 offorad shock used to be called the 4600 series, does the 5100 series have some new name? I dont find many matches for the 5100 series to fit the D22 navara. All the different types are confusing the hell out of me.

As mentioned previously it seems like you can buy Bilstein shocks from the US for under half the price here, I have seen Aus prices for over $200 a shock whereas US prices appear to be well under $100 per shock. I like to buy Australian but the price difference seems immense for the exact same product.

Cheers,
Alex

I can get a front and rear set of these 5100 series shocks, which the company selling them has advised is the correct shock for $402 ($90 shipping included) shipped my address in Aus. Seems like a bargain as most of the places in Aus want $200 a shock and that's for B6 offroad model (which apparently isnt as good as the 5100 series for a raised ute).

I Bought mine from Eshocks in The USA. They are big Bilstein Suppliers.

The front shock part number is 24-187824 and were $69.75 Usd each.
The rear shock part number is 24-021289 and were $69.75 Usd each.

Shipping was $140USD for 6 Shocks.. Ordered 2 for a neighbour.

Superb value and delivery to door was 4 Days.. Very impressed.

hey shorty, let us know how the bilsteins compare to ur ranchos!

Hey Greg,

Cheers for that info mate those part numbers are used by Eshocks and Shockwarehouse in the US, however these part numbers are confusing. The front shock part number is the same everywhere I look which makes it a definite, however so far I have seen two different numbers for the rear shocks as seen here

http://www.shockwarehouse.com/site/product.cfm?id=14649
and
http://www.shockwarehouse.com/site/product.cfm?id=14402

I am assuming I want the first one as the second one on that site is recommended for the older 720 pickup and D21. However this second part number is the one listed in the bilstein catalogue on the quadrant suspension website and they quote the same part number for the rear shock in both the D21 and the D22.

Also I have seen this http://www.shockwarehouse.com/news/images/bilstein-5100-vs-bilstein-heavy-duty.cfm
There is a lot of conflicting information here and but I think they only make the 5100 series shocks for the D40s? I actually have NFI anymore as I have read so much information on different sites all saying different things.

Ben, I haven't got ranchos I have the stock standard shocks in still and am looking to upgrade.

Yes Shorty,

The first listing is what you want. I recall when I bought mine, the listing fitted Hilux too.

Sweet as Greg, thanks for that, the hilux thing did put me off but it sounds like these are the ones I need. Now just have to work out who can supply them the cheapest plus shipping haha.

I am assuming you are happy with their quality/performance?

Absolutely.. they really change an st-r.. the front end bouncing stops and the rough ride where the bump stops are pounded stops. You end up with a consistently firm ride with a major reduction in harshness. I wish I did it when it was new!!

yeah my str 2013 model is wanting a full set of non stock shockies, whats a good shockie to buy without paying the earth. ??

I ended up going through a local suspension dealer called fulcrum and installed it all myself, they had relatively good prices and the stuff was delivered in two days. I went with 4 bilstein shocks EFS 150kg leaves, shackles, pins and U-bolts, and EFS HD torsion bars.

All was good except when I installed one of my greaseable pins I went to torque the bolt up and it pulled the pin out of the plate which is welded to the outer side when mounted on the chassis. They will replace this as it was defective, luckily I could salvage one of the stock ones and put that in for the time being.

All my stock shocks had no rebound after 10 years of use and my springs had seen better days.

Hi. Will they fit a 2012 d22 str mate? With a 2 inch lift?

Ok thanks. How did they go?

The shocks are great mate, the biggest difference I notice with them are the use when the suspension works hard over small compression/expansion. Most noticeable is going over unsealed roads which are usually congregated, with my old factory shocks I felt like the car was going to vibrate itself apart, now its smooth sailing. Also making quick turning manoeuvres at high speed is better.

Also take into account my factory shocks were stuffed, I could compress them by hand and they had no expansion force at all, they just stayed compressed.

Ok cheers. I only did about 2000 kms I think before upgrading to a lift. The standard suspension kept bottoming out with the weight of the steel bull bar and winch but I am still not happy with the shocks I got. I do a lot of bush driving. After looking at all the options I decided to go with the American dealers for half the price. Just got to wait for em to arrive now. If it all goes well ill post the links to the ones they recomended to me.

Ok I have received them, fitted and tested, would have to say there is a 100% improvement, on the road there is less sway when cornering, has a lot better feel to it when driving it, offroad, went for a hack up the beach and noticed a improvement in the normal bumpy areas I drive, went up a corrugated dirt road and tried both low and high speed and was amazed at the difference, my old shocks are defo dead, only lasted 2 years... any way ill post the info below.

I emailed these guys and told them I had a 2012 Nissan Navara D22 STR with a 2 inch lift fitted and they recommended the below, I know it says 3 inch lift on there but I checked with my old shocks and are the same size, cost $405 AUD all up, delivered. There prices are in USD.
