Hey Guys,
Just trying to work out the most efficient way to buy oil filters as lord knows how many us diesel drivers go through. My qualm is finding the best value to buy and making sure I am not using something which is not and effective oil filter. I see many different bands around and then of course there is genuine.
Genuine Filter - People say the best but who knows, called my local nissan and they said $36ish each and if I buy 10 they could do them fro $29 each
Ryco - What I am currently using, cost about $30, used to be aussie made but from what I can tell now they are made in china and have had threading issues for some models (not that we need worry about this as ours dont have a threaded metal casing ha)
Sakura - Someone said it was Jap made, others say Thai? These are very cheap can be had on Ebay for $70 for 10 of them, seems good value but are they crap filters?
Then there are all the other various brands, valvoline, fleetguard, donaldson, Hmmel&Mann etc......
I have trawled the net and seen come comparo's with filtering (usually of brands we dont have in Aus), some filter well but then impede oil flow rate as a consequence, others have good flow but poorer filtering.
Does anyone in the know recommend a decent filter at a decent price? Or is it a much of a muchness because each filter that is manufactured has to comply with certain rules and regs and should be up to standard for our use?
Is it best to pay an arm and a leg and just get genuine? Everything with a bloody diesel tag on it seems way more expensive, coming from a former petrol commodore driver.
