The dipstick/filler tube on my 2007 D40 STX (Spanish) is broken... snapped about half way up the tube. I have a replacement but it doesn't look like there's any way I can get in from the top, or from underneath, to remove the broken one and fit the new one.

Has anyone done this job before and offer any advice? I may send it into an auto place to this done if I can't get in there myself.

Welcome to the forum.

It's not something I've had to replace. There is limited space down the side of the box, if it was mine I'd take it to the auto guy (or even a good general mechanic) to do but that's more because my hands are not as flexible any more.

Well, I attempted this myself today... and was successful!

If you jack the car up, take off the front drivers' side wheel, remove the inner guard lining and twist your body right you can actually get into the bolts for the tube. New one is now in and I'm feeling much better now if I have to wade through a creek.
