Radiator stays in, bash plate under radiator needs to come out to get to the air-con belt tensioner, the water pump / alternator belts are tensioned by the alternator and the power steering has its own tensioner.

Not overly hard to get to, the air-con one is more awkward than anything having to pull the bash plate off.
 
My neighbour who is a diesel mechanic looked at my belts and said that they are low in the V of the pulley so are definitely worn. He said they should be slightly higher than the edge of the pulley. He is going to replace them for me which is great. In the mean time the WD40 has eliminated the noise after I applied it 7 days ago, so I'm very hopeful now
