Hi all,

In april this year (2011) we pick up out 04 d22 with 148000km on the clock, stock as a rock!! since then i have fitted uhf, dual battery, fridge out let in the tub, mp3,usb,cd player, vinyl canopy, EGR/swirl control mod, snorkel, and the latest a 45mm maxitrac (read ironman) suspension lift.

any way pics tell a 1000 words so here goes......

And then came the vinyl canopy.

First off i got given 2 set of late model sports bars, so one for the back and one for the front. I measured and worked out where i wanted the back one to go and traced around the black base the remove it and center punched and drilled the holes, had to remove the tail light to get in the cavity behind them.

I get the curved sides and center peak made up at a local fab place, they only cost $42.50, i actually made my own curved side out of some thin zinc sheet i had here, but i wasn't going to be strong enough. better to do things right the first time.

Then came the YD25 snorkel. i fitted i myself taking my time and i came up very well!!

The snorkel made a world of difference to the performance of the truck and needless to say it sounds f*$%ing fantastic!!!

A link to that thread is here

About time you started a thread bryan, now i will be able to keep an eye on your build without having to search through countless threads :)

So a week ago i fitted RepcoMaxitrac (re badged Ironman performance kit) 45mm lift suspension kit, now i got this for the right price so i went with it, so we will see how it goes but i did come with greseable pins and hangers, bushes, u bolts and 4 shocks.

we did a small camping trip this weekend and the truck seems alot firmer but no as rough and the stock springs and tb's. it doesn't wallow now or hit the bump stops on compression.

measurements before i started were taken from the bottom of the wheel arch to the bottom of the rim
Drivers Front= 755
Pass front= 735
Driver Rear= 723
Pass rear= 710

here are the before shots

and the after pics and measurements again from the bottom of the wheel arch to the bottom of the rim
Drivers Front= 760
Pass front= 760
Driver Rear= 765
Pass rear= 765

as you can see i didnt gain alot in the front as a had already wound up the standard tb's which had sagged again!!!

At least they are not inverted like the factory nissan poo was before i pulled it out!!

In comparison these have 4 long springs and one load spring were as the standard stuff on has 2 long leafs and 2 load leafs but still flex very well. This weekend when i towed or 450kg camper and had the engel and food in the tub i say it only dropped about 20mm or so which i am happy with.

thanks for reading.
bryan

p,s next thing on the list to do id tyres, 265/75/16 just not sure what to go for yet, so many options!!!

Ok so the latest mod for my nav I got some 265/75/16 BFG KM2's fitted today, picked them up for $370 a tyre f&b.
Anyway here is the end result, they are quiet up to about 75kmh then then hum nicely for a mud tyre, power wise i can fell the difference a little, on take off more than anything, oh and they are a little more floaty on the hiway! my guess coz they are new and soft, Also no rubbing on the mub flaps at all yet either!!

Looking very Nice mate. Don't forget with the bigger tyres your speedo will be out! 265/75/16 are about 3.5% bigger in rolling distance than the stock 265/70/16's so sitting just above 95km by the speedo is about 100km in road speed.

Very nice bryan, i have always liked the bfg km2s a real nice lookin tyre. You will have to test them offroad now.

Joshman, yeah it is out, i put the gps on it yesterday and 95 is smack on 100!!

bart will do a few k's on the black stuff before ''testing'' them off road so the harden up a little!!

Well today i fitted a new 110ah deep cycle battery under the bonnet of the nav, It went were the prefilter was because i fitted the YD25 air duct. I already had a second battery under the hood but it was getting a little to tired to run the fridge so i took the opportunity to fit a bigger one.
noe i could have gone out and bought one of these but that would have blown the budget! so i used a $15 tray and made my own mounts to which it has turned out pretty solid.

The tray

So because the inner guard isnt flat i have to "space" up the battery tray as such, I use 20x20 box and picked up some of the captive nuts that are there.

I then added a bracket at engine end to support the over hang and bolted it to some more captive nuts.

Continued VVV
