So im having the issuse of the batt light staying on as per jap55s thead a little further down, i have a volt meter plugged in and when the light is on it is not charging untill 1500rpm when the light goes out.

so i have a few questions,
is it worth looking at the brushes and slipring?
just replace with a new one? (was thinking of doing anyway to get 90A)
is it really the alt playing up or is it something else?

where are people getting new alternators from?
and how much for?

this all started after washing under the bonnet and a few over bonnet freashish water splashes at fraser.

cheers
bryan

First thing i would recommend, clean your contacts.
A can of contact cleaner can be got from supercheap for about $16, grab one, and some fine wet + dry, follow your wires from the alternator, and clean any contacts you find (Unbolt, spray, scrub, spray again, reconnect), also clean the terminals on the battery.
$16 and about an hour of your time may yield some results, and if not, hey its only $16 and an hour of your time....
