NP300 EGR Blanking?

I was thinking same thing in my thread aswell mate wondering how long it will take before someone tries it
 
I took a look at it yesterday. I might try it when I make the bracket for the catch can.
 
Let us know how it goes if any prob's with it in,prob need a small hole drilled like the crd 3ltrs I'm assuming ?? what type of catch can you get??
 
I did a Provent 200 style one. - Does the job. Doesnt look too out of place.
Still havent tackled the EGR yet. A job for the public holidays.
 
What a prick to get to! I disconnected the plug to it. No check engine light... Will take it for a drive soon. See if I can get it to throw one.
 
I know, but it's one test down. By the way it does the same thing when it's blocked.
 
EGR kill it with Fire! the B*%$t@rd turned my 2.5 Triton turbo engine into naturally aspirated! (Clogged MAP sensor) The local diesel specialist just made a plate up and stuck it in said its an easy job. just replace the gasket with said plate with a 8mm hole drilled through to trick the sensor. cant hurt it as much as leaving it fully open allowing gunk clog the intake manifold.
 
Sorry for my dumbness with modern diesel (came from a 1hdt cruiser) but what is a egr and why do you block it?
 
Egr is exhaust gas recirculation. If you want to know what it is like, take a mask with a hose on it and put the mask on and the other end of the hose in your pants so you can breathe in your farts..... same principle.

The system is fitted to lower the amount of fresh oxygen in the combustion chamber, reducing egts (conbustion temperature) and nox (oxides of nitrogen) emissions. With the pcv system feeding oil soaked gases from the sump (blowby gas created during combustion) back into the turbo and into the intake manifold, this hot exhaust gas (egr) bakes the oil from the pcv system onto the inside of the intake manifold until there is so much there that it basically blocks the intake manifold. If you google pictures of egr you will see the results. ... it isn't pretty. Blocking the egr and fitting a catch can stops this from happening.

I just punched "NP300 EGR" into FB search and it popped straight up. There's a post in the group "Aussie 4wd Navara NP300". - Some good info. - Apparently the manuals can be totally blocked, and the autos need a 8mm hole or some electronic trickery. - It also seems Willall racing do some sort of device to electronically turn off the EGR without check lights / limp mode on the autos. - I've asked Martin for some more info.
Also, I read that the D22 ZD30 EGR plates fit, just need the holes elongated slightly.
 
Just fitted the EGR full blank. Here is how I done mine.
1. remove two fuel lines from the injector cover very easy just squeeze and pull
2. remove 1 cable from the fuel filter green connector
3. remove two nuts from fuel filter cradle move filter assembly to one side, now you can see the EGR Tube.
4. remove two coolant line bolts 1 on the EGR pipe the other is just below it hard to see (10mm socket)
5. remove 2 bolts from the EGR pipe (10mm) near the coolant ones.
6. Remove 2 bolts from the other end of the EGR pipe (8mm)
7. use a leaver to move the coolant line out of the way at the same time twisting the EGR pipe towards you. This is so there is a tail that goes down into the engine manifold to come out. so needs to roll towards you to clear.
assembly is the reverse.
To bleed the fuel system. turn the ignition on don't touch the brake or clutch. You will hear the fuel pump and some noise from the fuel rail then a click and it is primed ready to start. Very easy for filter changes. Easiest diesel to prime i have owned.
I used 0.6mm stainless steel to make my blank don't think you could go much thicker as it will twist the assembly and possibly the bolts at] the other end will not line up.
