Ecu talk readings... note the °CV ???
there is a thread on patrol forum on it.
its related to the injection timing solenoid on time. i think ecu talk reads it backwoods and it can indicate when the pump is faulty.
lots of info in the thread about it.

13.1 and 46 are good values at idle for spill valve and ICV%.
Good to see it going again.

Thanks man, I'll take a look...

Thanks Rum, the pump made a world of difference!
I haven't hooked up the chip and it runs like its conected... the chip must have been helping out all this time, cant wait to see what it goes like with the chip hooked back up!

I've only taken it up and down the road for a quick test but she runs good, I'm taking it for a longer run to town tomorrow ..
Be good to see if it helps the fuel mileage, towards the end I was only getting 450 to 500k to the tank ..

I didnt fit the new oil pump/ gear cover that i brought, thought I'd save it for a rebuild down the track and not waste it on a 300'000k motor !

Next i think ill get the injectors cleaned and checked, should have done it when i did the pump but time and money was short so decided they can wait..

Keen to build a "warm" zd30 now lol Is there much you can do to these ? Pistons? Cam, do people play with cams on diesels ?? Maybe a manifold and a Garrett would be ni e? I heard good things about water/ meth' injection ?

get injectors checked. they are dual stage injectors so need a place that can do them. i talk about it with local crowd about rebuilding them and they said they have done it but it can give problems. so they only sell new ones.

cams are rarely done on diesels, generally only on extreme builds.

on the zd30 its more about what turbo to run. variable turbo would be great.
making sure its well intercooled.

water/meth works great. however you go through lots of it.

Just wondering, why did you fit a lift pump? any reason behind it?
several things.
one is recovering lost performance. as the pump wears timing tends to retard. the bit of extra pressure helps with that.
the other main one is keeping air out. the injection pump has to lift fuel up from the tank and through the filter. filter restriction causes injection timing to retard, but also air can be sucked in through cracked hoses and filter primer seals. by putting it under pressure any leaks are exposed and it stops air from being sucked in.

also really handy for fuel filter changes. just swap filter, run the lift pump and its all primed and ready to go. no having to use that manual primer.

ok thanks for the replies.... i just replaced my pump lol, followed this thread actually!!! so i might put a lift pump in too...

Also any recommendations on a pump? any special psi etc?
keep it under 15psi, needs to be fairly high flow, and must have a bypass valve fitted so the injection pump can suck fuel through when pump isn't running.
there is a few threads on it and especially on patrol forums.

Ha, i couldn't remember what pump I fitted so I had to come check lol ...

mines sounding funny, it sounds like its fluctuating,, like a 12v feed or earth issue or a bearing is on its way out.. so I thought I'd buy a new one for the tool box, for the day when it does go..

I'll have to drop the cover plate and check the wiring but I'm betting bearing... Anyone know what sort of ks you get out of these pumps... the blue one as it turned out lol I thought I may have used the black one ;)

It's under there! Dang uni grease, she was well lubed and weather protected ;)

I had stuck my head under there over the different services and never noticed any weeping/leaks etc but this is the first time removing the cover since it was fitted..
All seems ok that way, wiring seems fine,,, so it must be bearing or not getting enough 12v feed at certain times.. maybe the pressure reg valve?? Dont know, but there's a difference from when first fitted..
