Ran out of diesel in my new STX - WTF?!

my 75 litres of useable fuel I deliberately ran mine until it coughed on the highway, when it was quite new.(Of course I had spare fuel drum in the back, and strong fingers ready to prime the filter). Eased off however, and stopped at next servo just down the road a bit, only took 75l. That is...

    D40 Fuel Pump Prob?

Now Fixed, stop looking guys. Just a breath whilst I wipe the egg off my face!! Tried another diesel filter under the bonnet, problem fixed. Discovered a fine crack in the plastic water drain under the filter. I guess the pump would much rather draw air than diesel! Interesting how the problem...

    D40 Durability

207,000 and still happy Jan 06, Manual diesel. As we live out of town, every time the key is turned, it does 65km minimum, so I expect longevity from most of the mechanical components. We do a fair bit of 4WD getting to fishing spots and I am very careful to use low range on boat ramps, some of...

    D40 Fuel Pump Prob?

HELP My trusty Jan 2006 D40 Diesel Manual (now at 206,000km), has exhibited a fault today. It is taking twice as much cranking to start, and cuts out momentarily around long RH bends, like TR @ roundabout! Is there a pre-pump in the tank or similar that could fail and cause this? I've checked...

    Front seal D40 Transfer case

I too would love to see the pic of your mod. Mine always leaks after a good dose of driving through flooded creeks, and there has been plenty of that lately in Qld. I must admit, I ignore it, and the leak stops of its own accord after another 10,000km, and of course I monitor the transfer level...

    Navara clutch issues?

180,000 km so far.......no clutch problems. I must admit, I use low range on the boat ramp and steep driveways due to the hole in the torque curve low down. I guess I've done about 50,000 km with the boat on the back, but its only 700kg total.

    Anyone on KYB Shocks?

I am on EFS Elite on the rear of my D40 with 180,000km. They have done 20,000km so far and are infinitely better in control and damping than the two other previous sets. They are working with the std springs with an extra leaf.......a good combination it seems

    I'm another new boy

I've been lurking here for a few years, and have decided to join. The forum has been a good source for me and now that the faithful D40 has done 160,000km I have some stories, and a few little glitches starting to show up. My background is as a carburettor repairer, now retired, and that is of...
