    Servicing

Hi all, My Navara is well out of warranty at nearly 9 years old, but only about 95000 kms. My question is regarding which service I should be getting. Previous mechanics and dealers seem to be just going off the kms and not the time. The last service performed was the 90000 even though that is...

Tonneau cover keeps filling up with water

I think he means the cover is slotted into the channel properly, NOT that the bar is fitted near the back window !

    Sack the glow worms!!!

Hey Old.Tony, clicked that link of yours and had a look. Found this one (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/22INCH-144W-CREE-LED-WORK-LIGHT-BAR-COMBO-OFFROAD-UTE-4WD-SECKIL-120W-126W-FD-/231256752452?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35d7fa0144) on the same site, seems better (brighter) but cheaper...

    new tyres

OK I've had my Mickey Thompson ATZ P3's fitted (265/75/R16) to my 2011 D22. They rub a bit on the front left side only, looks like more excellent quality control from Nissan. Anyone else experience rubbing only on one side ? I cut the mudflap like others which helps, but when mounting a kerb and...

    Essential gear for camping/4x4

my list (excel spreadsheet) Here's the list I/we use every time we go anywhere. obviously don't always take everything, depending on whether there's going to be 240v power, running water, fire season etc. hopefully you can find some useful things on it.

    which awning ?

I just bought and fitted an ARB one. Seems like better quality than the Ironman ones and others that have plastic cam-locks in the poles. I've heard these crap themselves after use in sand. I won't be using mine more than a few times a year either, but the cheap ones seem really cheap and nasty.

Plugging in Trailer casues Hazard light fuse to blow

could be your car wiring, has it ever worked ? have you tried another trailer on your car ?
  11. M

    Battery addition

my fridge only uses 12V when selected. The thing is, I'd have it set to 12V while towing, then if I stop the car, I need to know it won't drain the battery, without having to crawl into the trailer (poptop Jayco Flamingo) and shift the selector. So for a basic "add a second battery with...

    Battery addition

The reason the fridge is only run on 12V when the car is running is so it can't drain the house battery. I get the fridge cold on 240V before I leave home, then use the house battery (which is being charged by the car aux batt, which in turn is charged by the car main battery through a Redarc...

    Battery addition

And the proposed setup: I realized you drew 1 fuse off each battery, however the switch is located in the battery box and the wire between the batteries and the switch is only a few centimetres long. Will this 1 breaker suffice ?

    Battery addition

Old.Tony, just to make sure I understand what you're talking about, attached is a diagram of the current (single battery) setup. Following post will have what (I think) you and I are proposing. Thanks !

    Battery addition

Hi Tony, not sure we're talking about the same things here ? This is a house battery setup, completely contained inside the camper trailer. Originally I had a 100ah AGM battery, I'm adding an additional 200ah AGM battery. As you and others have mentioned I can't parallel them as they are...

    Battery addition

actually I forgot to ask you, where abouts in your diagram would you put the breaker/fuse ?

    Battery addition

Thanks guys. Would the switch in the attached picture be OK ? If anyone can be bothered advising if there's a better (or cheaper but still suitable !) switch from the same company near my work, it's from the URL: http://www.12volt.com.au/General%20Htmls/webcat2003/batteryswitches.html Cheers !

    Battery addition

judging by Foxbat's info, my SETEC unit is probably charging at 10A. would there be a simple way (drawings please if you can be bothered !) of keeping both batteries, but having a 2 way switch that chooses which battery is 'active' for both charging and power usage ? IE I can manually switch...

thanks for the info, the guy at the shop was surprised too, so he rang the wholesaler who confirmed, the MT ATZ P3 at $389 fitted and balanced, the Maxxis 764 Bighorn at $367. is one of those prices way out with what you'd expect ? should I ask for discount ? Forgot to mention, probably like...

    Battery addition

I would've thought that the battery with the higher charge would just discharge into the other, keeping their levels the same, and that they would distribute the charge amongst themselves ? so even with a decent charger (CTEK etc) this won't work ?
