    Buying a d40??

That's the first time I have heard of high km yd25s, if they were reliable enough I would get a new d22, I'm a bit cut the build quality control went down. I think the poms use a different engine setup by memory, they also probably have dealerships that don't put up with the bullshit ours do...

    Buying a d40??

It wasn't in my petrol vs diesel thread mate it was in the thread called "engine dramas..." You know the thread where the bloke suffered complete engine failure at just under 200,000km on the clock................ Another bloke also just posted in that thread that he hasn't had the best time...

    Buying a d40??

We have owned my d22 for 10years and it's still going strong, the new Utes are hollow, weak, under engineered and often not built properly, a d40 cannot even hold a candle to a GU. The 4.2td GU is the strongest Nissan ever made. And one of the best if not the best 4WD ever made. Common sense people.

    Buying a d40??

If your going to run a 3 inch lift get a GU 4.2td wagon, it's better at towing than the d40, absolutely bulletproof, you can carry your mates in it, you can lift it, and any more money you spend on fuel will be spent on parts for the d40 in the long run mate... the td42 will probably get better...

    Petrol vs diesel

A+ ,That was the whole point of this thread...general consensus is the vg33 is a lot more reliable, also my vg33 gets the same fuel economy as my brothers d40 auto yd25 on the highway, costs a lot less to service and maintain, and has a bulletproof drivetrain, the whole thing was assembled...

    Engine Dramas

I think that Nissan are pricks for moving manufacturing to 3rd world countrys to save money, all the new Utes are weak, not just Nissan, French engines are a big question mark also.

    Engine Dramas

I believe his name is Mannnick, nice ute, I'd worry about the long term strength of his set up though. He's only running 33s as far as I can tell.

    Petrol vs diesel

Sounds good, is that the dielectric stuff? I Will probably still use a tarp/water bra and tie the fan, I've seen to many drowned fourbys, thanks heaps.

    Engine Dramas

150kw is piss weak. I feel sorry for this bloke whose engine ate itself...I hope he finds a new motor cheap.

    Buying a d40??

They both have there fair share of issues.

    Buying a d40??

Are you swapping with a mate, a private seller, or a car yard? General rule of thumb is never to buy a lifted truck as there is probably a lot of wear and tear on the driveline, and the d40 driveline is weakly engineered to begin with... If your not going bush anymore why would you want a 3 inch...

So my car is flagged as "restricted warranty"

Did you buy the car second hand off Nissan? Did they really charge you $1800 for the cruise?

    Buying a d40??

Thai built will have an M at the start of the vin, Spanish will have VSK

    Buying a d40??

Just go have a look through the d40 section and you'll get a rough idea of what can go wrong, if the truck your looking at has a body lift the cvs won't be a problem.

    Buying a d40??

All the new utes from every brand have had build quality issues, the d40 used to be built in Spain which were probably even worse than the Thai ones...I wouldnt get one with a 3 inch suspension lift mate you'll break cv joints constantly off road, I'd say that would be the reason someone sold it...
