Maybe start by measuring axle to chassis rail. Then chassis to body. Check where the difference is from there.

Not sure if it would work on zd30 I thought they are mechanical injection? I'm about to try on my yd25. Pretty sure your on the money in that most rail pressure chips are just a resistor dropping the response back to ecu. I want to get my hands on a no limits style chip so I can reverse engineer.
